Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has a very big decision ahead, and his comments this week have created a lot of intrigue in Toronto.

Goaltending has generated a lot of buzz in Toronto this year, and for the first time in a while, it was generally very positive discussion. Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz were able to form a tremendous tandem, and in doing so, they were able to turn a weakness into a great strength.
When his goalies have both been healthy, head coach Craig Berube has usually split their work right down the middle. In recent weeks, he's trended towards giving each of his netminders multiple starts in a row, perhaps as an attempt to identify his starting goaltender for Game 1 of the playoffs.
Berube's been asked the same question several times since the new year, about who he sees as his starter for the playoffs, but he remains uncertain as to who will be in between the pipes for Game 1, let alone if he's going to use a rotation or not:
"I never have [used a tandem in the playoffs]. I've had to put goalies in, in situations, but that's something I've never done. It's always a question we'll discuss, and we'll go over at some point here. Maybe we already have. We'll see."
As a head coach for the Philadelphia Flyers and St. Louis Blues, Berube ran with one goaltender, barring injuries, so this is certainly a situation he's not accustomed to.
However, it's going to be a tough decision considering how well both have played. Woll has posted a 25-13-1 record with a 2.78 GAA and a .906 SV%, whereas Stolarz has a 16-8-3 record with a 2.35 GAA and a .919 SV%, prior to last night's win over Florida.
Woll has struggled with consistency for parts of the season, with stretches where he's been nearly unbeatable but then will counter that with stretches where his GAA balloons and his save percentage is well below the 90% threshold.
Stolarz, on the other hand, delivered to the tune of a league leading save percentage (.927) and a scintillating GAA (2.05) before his injury. Since then, it's been a mixed bag with a .903 SV% and a 2.70 GAA over his last 10 games, again, prior to last night's win against the Panthers.
There's still 7 games remaining on the docket and the Leafs should at least have an idea of who they want to run out or Game 1. As for a tandem in the post-season, it's going to take a lot for someone like Berube to commit to that kind of a change, but with how well they've both played, it might be difficult to sit one out for the entire post-season.
