Craig Berube's post-practice comments on Saturday have confirmed one very significant change to the Leafs' opening night roster after Scott Laughton's injury.
Friday was an eventful day at training camp for the Maple Leafs. First, they announced that Scott Laughton was out week-to-week with a lower-body injury. Shortly after, they announced that David Kampf had been placed on waivers, which came as a shock to many as he had taken reps in Laughton's spot during practice.
Ahead of their pre-season finale on Saturday night, the non-playing group saw Domi taking reps at 3rd line center, which had many wondering what Berube's thought process was for opening night.
Clearly, Berube is looking to establish a more offensive third line with Laughton out, and has no plans for Kampf to take on Laughton's role. His decision almost confirms that Kampf will either be sent to the Toronto Marlies or traded.
