Goaltender Anthony Stolarz had enough after being run over twice, taking matters into his own hands, but the Leafs' poor response might be the bigger story.

After an underwhelming start against the Seattle Kraken, the Toronto Maple Leafs found themselves in a frustrating situation -- one that pushed goaltender Anthony Stolarz past his limit.
During the game, Stolarz was run into multiple times, with Jaden Schwartz first being shoved into Stolarz by Brandon Carlo on Seattle's third goal. The puck trickled in, and what might normally have been ruled goalie interference wasn't, since a Leaf pushed Schwartz into Stolarz.
Later, when Mason Marchment crashed into Stolarz, the goaltender's frustration was visible.
Typically, NHL goaltenders are told to let their teammates handle situations like this, but Stolarz had a different reaction, and it spoke volumes. However, should he have had to be the one to say enough is enough? Justin Bourne things not.

Where Was the Pushback From Toronto?

For a team that prides itself on being one of the league's heaviest and most physical lineups, Toronto's lack of response stood out. Goalies shouldn't have to defend themselves, especially not twice in one game.
After last year's controversy involving Sam Bennett's hit on Anthony Stolarz that took him out of the playoffs, it's clear the Maple Leafs still have a lingering issue: protecting their netminder.
If Toronto wants to establish a true identity under Craig Berube, standing up for their goaltenders might be the best place to start.
