Michael Bunting has been a revelation for the Leafs this season. Despite the fact that he had some pretty big shoes to fill, coming in to replace the departing Zach Hyman, Bunting has not only provided everything that Hyman did for the Leafs, but surprisingly, even more.
On Thursday, the Leafs faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in what is very likely going to be a precursor to their increasingly likely round one matchup and, oh boy, was it a rough one.
With the Leafs down 8-1 late in the third period and things getting chippy, Bunting clashed with Corey Perry in the neutral zone, grabbing ahold of the veteran winger's stick and whipping it down the ice. Oh the mind games, baby!
Bunting was issued a 10-minute misconduct on the play and was sent back to the Leafs' locker room, effectively ending his night a few minutes early. Well worth it to try to get under the skin of the Bolts under the circumstances.
