Footage of Brad Marchand mic'd up against the Leafs catches him uttering threats to Mitch Marner

When the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins took to the ice on March 7th, I don't think anyone was prepared for what a rough outing it would be. The Leafs bullied the Bruins all over the ice that night, with Jake McCabe setting the tone early with a pair of high cross-checks on Jake DeBrusk and Brad Marchand.

The Bruins were issued a 5-on-3 as a result of McCabe's pair of stick infractions, and ended up going on to win the game by a score of 4-1, but they absolutely, unequivocally knew that they were in a dog fight at the end of that one, as the Leafs were the more physical team all night, ensuring that the Bruins didn't escape with a win completely unphased.

Another interesting event occurred that night as well. The Bruins actually had Marchand mic'd up on NESN. Unfortunately, most of his comments were un-usable due to the extensive profanity. Thus, there were a LOT of bleeps.



The thing I found most funny about the clip was Marchand repeatedly trying to go after Leafs superstar Mitch Marner while being held back by the official. Marchand had an obscenity-laced outburst towards Marner in the game, shouting "you're gonna f***ing get it, you f***ing wait. I'm coming after you!" Why is that funny? Well, because Marchand had a chance to back up his mouth in the game as Max Domi found himself engaged with Marchand along the wall, trying to get Marchand to drop the gloves. The only thing Marchand dropped was to the ice in the turtle position.


The mic'd up segments are often pretty tame, mostly consisting of star players discussing strategy or celebrating goals. Whoever put a microphone on Marchand and expected to have some usable family content clearly didn't come checking all of the boxes they wanted to check. It did, however, make for some entertaining adult content.
