Insider reveals some exciting changes on the horizon for the NHL
A plethora of rule changes have been discussed by the NHL and the NHLPA, with the potential changes being implemented within the next 2 years.
As per hockey insider Pierre Lebrun, new rules changes are being discussed amongst the NHL and NHLPA. The changes that could be introduced could include:
-Moving the start of the regular season up to the beginning of October
-An 84-game regular season
-A reduced pre-season schedule that includes just 4 games
-Structuring the schedule to award the Stanley Cup in early-June
Obviously, there's a theme here. The NHL GMs seem to want to start the season earlier and see to it that it ends earlier, while also reducing the length of the pre-season, likely to help mitigate any potential injury risks that come with a lengthy pre-season.
Obviously, a lot can change over the next 2 years, but if all goes well, these are some of the changes we should expect.
