As the Toronto Maple Leafs face another round of untimely injuries during the second half of their season, it allows opportunities for the next man to step up to the plate and succeed.

The two defensemen questionable ahead of tonights provincial matchup against the Ottawa Senators have been revealed. Sheldon Keefe mentioned to the media that Veteran defenseman Mark Giordano will be day-to-day with a lower body injury that may have him out longer. Meanwhile, Conor Timmins is feeling ill today, which may take him out of the equation. Both players are absent from morning skate ahead of practice.

The morning skate today shows that the forward lines are staying the same with David Kämpf and Calle Järnkrok both on IR, working their way back from injury. With Mark Giordano and Conor Timmins also absent from practice today, this has led to William Lagesson practicing on the third pairing with fellow Swede Timothy Liljegren.

If both Giordano and Timmins are unable to play tonight which seems to be the case, this may give William Lagesson a chance to suit up tonight, something he hasn't done since his last game on Dec. 27th.

The Maxime Lajoie call-up is now making sense. He will practice and likely serve as the seventh defensemen in case anything was to happen before puck drop tonight.

With Woll now on LTIR and Järnkrok and now Kämpf on IR, the Maple Leafs continue to play musical chairs with their players to stay under the cap while having enough players on their roster to ice a full team.
