MUST SEE! Jake McCabe obliterates Preds forward with unbelievable hit, forced to answer the bell
With the Leafs up 3-0 and six minutes left to play in the third period, Nashville Predators forward Luke Evangelista attempted to carry the puck over the blueline but was met by Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake McCabe.
McCabe delivered a massive hit to the Predators forward who was playing with a number of friends and family in the building. The hit sent Evangelista flying into the curved glass at the Leafs bench and sent him corkscrewing to the ice, shaken up. McCabe was met by Kiefer Sherwood seconds later to fight and McCabe obliged. The fight was a quick one as McCabe landed a few shots and Sherwood lost his balance. As both players went to the ice Sherwood continued to throw punches at McCabe, which certainly goes against the code.
McCabe having to fight after a clean hit is certainly another popular conversation topic. Having to fight after throwing a clean hit has to be the dumbest thing to find its way into the NHL. I get that it's to stand up for a teammate, but when your teammate puts himself in a position to be hit, sometimes guys should simply shake their head and move on.
