With the wind blowing about making a change behind the Maple Leafs bench, prominent NHL insider Darren Dreger reveals whether or not that will come to fruition.

As we are fast approaching the holiday break, the Toronto Maple Leafs return home to the friendly confines of the Scotiabank Arena having lost all 3 games on their road trip - and quite handedly as well.
Fingers are being pointed in every which direction and Craig Berube's seat is white hot at the moment. It almost seemed unthinkable about a month ago that Berube could be fired, especially after last year's successes, but something has to change as soon as possible, and the head coach is usually the first casualty.
The groans are getting louder with every game and after a road trip that saw them get embarrassed in Washington, outplayed in Nashville, and unlucky in Dallas, you would have to think that tomorrow's game against Pittsburgh is a must-win.
While the sentiment is clear around Toronto, TSN's Darren Dreger doesn't believe a move is imminent, at least not today. The prominent NHL insider doesn't rule out a coaching change coming from the higher ups in the organization, but he doesn't think it will happen today or any time in the immediate future.
Maybe there is a call from above that says change has to happen, but I don't get the sense this morning that it's happening today.
The Maple Leafs are 7-10-4 over their last 21 games and no look further than their star players, who have disappeared in recent weeks. John Tavares has 2 goals and 4 points in his last 14 games, William Nylander has 0 goals and 5 assists in his last 11 games, Matthew Knies has 1 goal and 3 points in his last 10 games, and Auston Matthews has 6 points in his last 10.
Unfortunately getting a new coach is the easiest bandaid solution for the Leafs, since they can't tear down the roster because of the cap hits and trade protections implemented in their contracts. With little to no future assets to use as trade bait, the Leafs are stuck in a bind that the market can't solve.
At least for the time being, Berube is safe from the scorn of MLSE, but you get the sense that something is on the horizon if they don't get their act together. That starts tomorrow night when they play the Pittsburgh Penguins before embarking on a condensed schedule until the Olympic Break that will see them play 21 times in 5 weeks.
