The Vegas Golden Knights may have unlocked a new level of potential for Mitch Marner after moving him to center in a move the Leafs never considered.

A very loud exit from the Leafs was followed by a poor start in Vegas, but since moving from the wing to center, Mitch Marner has been rejuvenated and his recent play has Leafs fans feeling the heat on social media.

An injury to Jack Eichel sent the Golden Knights and Mitch Marner into a brief tail-spin, before Bruce Cassidy chose to make a drastic change to his forward group.
Days before the Christmas break, Cassidy moved Marner from the wing to center in the hopes of unlocking more of Marner's potential.
Since shifting the dynamic forward to center, Marner has tallied 12 points in 11 games. This just might be a change that sticks for Vegas.

Marner's Resurgence Has Leafs Nation Feeling the Heat

Although Vegas is just 5-4-2 since the switch, Marner's play since moving from the wing to center has seen Golden Knights fans take aim at Leafs Nation on social media.
Not only have Golden Knights fans gone on the offensive against Leafs Nation, but so did career agitator Brad Marchand ahead of last Tuesday's game against the Leafs, saying it was "unfortunate the fans ran Marner out of town".
Given Knights fans had turned on Marner earlier in the season, it's hypocritical of them to attack Leafs Nation, saying he lives "rent free" in their heads, when they only recently began supporting him. To that I say, goodluck over the next seven and a half years riding that roller-coaster of emotion, especially in the postseason.
The Toronto native will take on his former club when the Leafs visit Vegas on Thursday, before he makes his long-awaited return to Toronto on January 23rd.
