With the Arizona Coyotes having another disaster of a season, they'll be looking to dump a couple of contracts at the trade deadline in hopes of saving some money. One of those players was identified about a week ago as Oliver Ekman-Larsson, arguably the team's best player. The 26 year old defenseman still has an extra year of term left on his contract, however currently sits with a -37 +/- rating, the poor guy needs a change of scenery ASAP. According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, the Toronto Maple Leafs could likely be one of those destinations. Garrioch reports that the Leafs, New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers are part of the small group that are willing to pay Arizona's high price for landing Ekman-Larsson. The starting point is rumoured to be two high end roster players and a first round pick. That price will likely come down before the deadline to more likely one high end roster player and a first plus some other pieces. The Coyotes could easily hold on to OEL until the summer time to wait for exactly what they want, but with multiple teams needing a player with Ekman-Larsson's skill set, somebody could easily be willing to pony up the price before the February 26th deadline. Would you like to see the Leafs land OEL even if it means giving up some big pieces?
