The hockey world has experienced yet another substantial loss as an NHL executive and former NHL general manager has passed away at the age of 62.

This past week has been a particularly tough one for the National Hockey League following the untimely death of long-time broadcaster and ex-NHL goaltender Greg Millen.
As the NHL continued to mourn Millen's loss, they also announced the passing of the first NHLer to ever come out of Newfoundland, Alex Faulkner.
Now, there is yet another big name in the hockey world who has left us far too soon as TSN's Chris Johnston has reported that ex-Penguins and Devils GM and current Minnesota Wild executive Ray Shero has suddenly passed away far too young.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman issued the following comments following Shero's untimely passing.
"Whenever we ran into each other at a rink when he was scouting, it was clear he loved what he was doing and I always marveled at his infectious enthusiasm. The entire National Hockey League family mourns his passing and sends our deepest condolences to the Shero family and Ray's many friends throughout the hockey world."

Times like these remind us that time is fleeting and that anyone can go at any time. It is with heavy hearts that we send our condolences to the Shero family, as well as his friends, fans and the Devils, Penguins and Wild organizations.
