The Dates for the Maple Leafs' First Two Playoff Games in Toronto Have Finally Been Revealed

With the NHL's 2024-25 regular season wrapping up, Chris Johnston of TSN has revealed the dates of the first two playoff games for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
As the regular season starts winding down in the NHL, there appear to be some stars aligning for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now, we finally now know the confirmed dates of the team's first two games of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Hockey insider Chris Johnston appeared on TSN 1050's OverDrive on Monday, where he revealed when the Leafs would first hit the ice in the post-season.
No official schedule has been released yet, but Johnston has stated that it will be Sunday, April 20, and Tuesday, April 22 for Toronto's first two games.
"We're expecting Leafs Sunday, Tuesday to start. So that means by the time we do our hit, scheduled normally on Monday next week, they'll have already played game one. That's how crazy this is."
Johnston added that the playoffs get underway on Saturday, and he believes the Edmonton Oilers will be in action that night. As for the Montreal Canadiens, Johnston suggested that they won't start until Tuesday.
Host Bryan Hayes said he anticipated the NHL would have the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens playing on separate nights.
"The TV companies, the rightsholders, they're going to want that. You want Toronto and Montreal going back and forth, you don't want them going at the same time."
The Maple Leafs' most likely first round opponent for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs remains the Ottawa Senators. However, the NHL's playoff picture is not yet set in stone. Toronto may yet find itself in a series against the Florida Panthers to open the post-season with two games left to go. It all hinges on their final two games and those of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
