On a night where the Toronto Maple Leafs were outshot 28-21 on the official score sheet, it could have been a whole lot worse.
During Tuesday's Game 2, the Senators had actually directed 60 shots towards the Leafs' net. Thankfully, and somewhat surprisingly, the Leafs were able to successfully block 32 of those attempts.
Those 32 shot blocks helped keep the game close, and while the Leafs did choke away a 2-0 lead in the game, Max Domi was able to find the back of the net just over 3 minutes into overtime to call game.
Domi's OT winner was arguably the biggest goal of his NHL career, was scored in front of his very excited father, Leafs legend Tie Domi, and propelled the Leafs to a 2-0 series lead over the Sens.
This victory was particularly significant. Following the win, Sportsnet Stats revealed that the Leafs are undefeated when securing a 2-0 series lead at home.
"Maple Leafs are 10-0 all-time in best-of-7 series when taking a 2-0 lead at home."
With the series headed to Ottawa for Games 3 and 4 later this week, the Leafs can potentially sweep the series and send the Sens packing on Saturday night.
