The Toronto Maple Leafs took a tough loss last night as they couldn't beat the Washington Capitals. Toronto has now lost 3 in a row and are 4 points behind the Boston Bruins and have just a 3 point lead on the Montreal Canadiens. Which makes Saturday's game at home against the Canadiens pretty important, win and you build a five point lead on the Canadiens, lose and the Canadiens are only one point behind you. «We know we have a lot of important hockey coming up, so we have to get back to work and be ready for Saturday,» said John Tavares after yesterday's game.
«We didn't get the result, but we had a lot of pucks on net and did some good things,»added Tavares «At times, we didn't sustain the momentum. Also, we were playing a pretty good hockey team. But we have to find a way to get the result.«We have to find away to get to another level. We have to be able to capitalize on our opportunities, get more pucks inside, get to the middle of the ice. Just dig in and find that way to break through.»Head coach Mike Babcock wasn't too down on the loss either. «I like the way we played most nights here,» said Babcock. «I find over time when you do good things, good things happen, so I'm not as concerned about it. I thought we had exceptional looks. Mitch (Marner) alone twice at the end. Real good look for Matthews, home free, in the second. Kapanen, great chance. Those were Grade-A looks.»
The Leafs play the Canadiens, Sabres and Oilers at home before they head to New York for Tavares' first game in New York since signing with the Islanders.
