Newcomer Scott Laughton has revealed how he has prepared for his first Stanley Cup Playoff run with the Maple Leafs ahead of their 1st Round series against Ottawa.
The Toronto Maple Leafs closed out the regular season in dramatic fashion with a come-from-behind 4-3 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings.
The comeback was sealed by an unlikely hero, Scott Laughton, who netted the game-winner in OT. The Leafs are hopeful that his clutch goal can spark something in him at just the right time, as the playoffs start on Sunday for the blue and white.
After the season finale, Laughton reflected on what the Battle of Ontario means to him, reminiscing about his childhood heroes.
As per Mark Masters on X:
"I watched the highlight pack yesterday. I remember watching guys like Darcy Tucker, Shayne Corson & all those guys. That was kind of my era of hockey & I thought it was the best era of hockey. It was amazing, so really excited to get going."
Laughton also touched on how special it's been to experience the energy in his hometown and be part of a team that means so much to the city.
"You see the buzz & how much people care here & that's what you want in a franchise & to go to battle for. So, yeah, it's an exciting time. I haven't played playoff hockey in a while, this is big for me."
