On Monday, it was suggested that the Leafs may take a run at forward Dillon Dube, and one Leafs reporter has revealed the truth behind the rumour.
With the annual Leafs and Legends Charity Golf Classic officially in the books, the players' attention will now turn to the start of training camp on Wednesday, where the real work begins.
The popular belief among pundits coming into this week was that the Leafs may still be looking to add to their roster.
The Leafs are rather loaded up front at the moment, with the likes of Nick Robertson, David Kampf, Michael Pezzetta, Calle Jarnkrok, and Easton Cowan trying to earn a roster spot in training camp. The addition of yet another body up front would have further complicated matters.
With the noise surrounding Mitch Marner and his departure from Toronto, perhaps it's not the right time to add such a controversial figure into the picture. Maybe that's something that the Leafs considered when they opted not to reach out to Dube.
