After a massive Game 6 that saw the Maple Leafs stave off elimination against the Panthers, the NHL made an important announcement for Game 7.
With everything on the line heading into Game 6, the Toronto Maple Leafs pulled out a stunning victory as they shut out the Florida Panthers on the road by a score of 2-0.
It was a low-scoring, low-event affair between the two rivals as they combined for only 39 shots on goal, but the Leafs recorded the 2 goals that mattered the most with
Auston Matthews' game-winning goal coming in the third period before Max Pacioretty added the insurance tally a few minutes later.
Now with the scene shifting back to Toronto for the final time in this series, the NHL made an important announcement for Game 7, revealing when the game will be played. Per the NHL, this one will happen at 7:30 PM (EST) on Sunday night.
After all the vitriol that was thrown their way after a disappointing Game 5 on home ice, the Maple Leafs played perhaps one of their better games in recent memory. Considering their track record in elimination games, this should give them all the confidence in the world heading into Sunday night.
Another sight for sore eyes was the fact that Auston Matthews was able to finally net his first goal in the second round of the playoffs and snapped a personal 5-game goal drought in dramatic fashion.
Sunday night should provide all the fireworks needed as we head into the Victoria Day weekend. Game 7 should be a treat to watch.
