New Team Host Ryan Leslie Reveals Leafs' Exciting Plan to Engage With Fans

New team host of the Maple Leafs Ryan Leslie has revealed how the organization plans to 'pull back the curtain' and engage fans with more player access.
After 10 years of being the Calgary Flames' regional reporter for Sportsnet, Ryan Leslie made a massive career change, joining the Leafs as their new team host this summer.
Leslie becomes the first team host since Paul Hendrick who retired after the 2019-2020 season.
In his new role, Leslie is hoping to turn the words of MLSE CEO Keith Pelley into action -- making the team more accessible to fans.
On Thursday, Leslie was on Leafs Morning Take, revealing just how he and the Leafs' social media team plan to open things up a little bit more to make the season more fun and engaging.
"They want to use their platforms to the highest level," shared Leslie. "The biggest thing is -- the access is really important -- do some things a little bit differently. I think we're going to try and pull the curtain back a bit, show some of the personalities these guys have. Knowing what a priority they wanted this to be, I look forward to telling some of their stories and make it a little easier in terms of their availabilities and making them enjoy it because I know they get pulled in so many directions."
One of Keith Pelley's goals this season was to give fans more access to the team and make them more available, and by bringing in Leslie, it is the first step in providing that access to Leafs Nation.
Already, as teams prepare for training camp, the Leafs' social media team has seemed far more active with sound bite clips and behind-the-scenes footage from different events players have taken part in than in years past.
Not only has the media team been more active, but under Pelley, it would seem the players have much more freedom to make appearances on podcasts with Matthew Knies, Scott Laughton, Nicolas Roy, Dakota Joshua and even head coach Craig Berube making multiple appearances this summer.
With their own host in Leslie, it gives the Leafs the ability to conduct more candid interviews at any time. Known for his story-telling and having expressed an interest in making the interviews enjoyable for players, Leslie is surely going to give Leafs Nation the content they have been yearning for.
