New Leafs forward Michael Pezzetta has addressed the elephant in the room after previously engaging in multiple fights with new teammate Ryan Reaves.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been extremely busy since their early playoff exit, once again falling short of reaching the Conference Finals.
Pezzetta made it clear there are no hard feelings toward Reaves, as per Terry Koshan on X:
"No hard feelings with Reaves, Pezzetta said, after fighting him in the past."
He also acknowledged that his spot on the roster is far from guaranteed, but he's ready to earn it, as per Lance Hornby on X:
"It's not a given, I want to earn it. Do everything I can to be an 'X' factor."
Pezzetta isn't expected to suit up every night, and earning playing time could be even more challenging with Reaves still in the mix.
With both players filling similar roles, the battle for playing time between them will likely begin in training camp.
While having multiple enforcers is less common in today's NHL, the Leafs could benefit from their grit and energy. The problem for Reaves and Pezzetta is that only one can dress on any given night.
