Maple Leafs veteran defensemen Chris Tanev is nearing a return after new footage surfaced of him back on the ice.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been off to an incredible start to the month of November after a slow start to their season, going 3-0-0 this month, and moving to a season record of 8-5-1.
The Maple Leafs have dealt with a plethora of injuries this season to players like Scott Laughton William Nylander and Chris Tanev, just to name a few.
However, there appears to a major update available on Tanev, who has played just 8 games this season.

Chris Tanev Update Big News for Toronto

For 35-year-old veteran Chris Tanev, it seems like he is well on his from recovery after being sidelined on November 1st after a collision with Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov, that appeared to have caused an injury to his head/neck.
It looks like Tanev has resumed skating, and teammate Brandon Carlo gave an unofficial update on the health of his fellow d-man.
As per Maple Leafs defender Brandon Carlo:
"Every time that I've talked to him since, he's seemed just like himself, so that's what you like to see."
"He's doing well... He's got bright eyes and a bushy tail in the morning."

Veteran Chris Tanev Stabilizing Force in Toronto

While the Maple Leafs' depth pieces in Dakota Mermis and Philippe Myers have stepped into to fill the void in Tanev's absence, it's hard to replace the veteran's leadership and strong defensive style of play.
Tanev often has seen himself at the top of the league in blocked shots, year after year, and has been a huge stabilizing force on the blue line in Toronto since he signed with the club in 2024.
While Tanev should take his time recovering until he is fully healed, his leadership and dependability for the Maple Leafs is crucial for their success, especially for keeping pucks out of the net.
