New Chapter Begins For Maple Leafs Top Prospect Ben Danford As He Is Officially Traded
The Maple Leafs' top defensive prospect has officially been traded as the Oshawa Generals captain has been dealt to the Brantford Bulldogs for three players and nine draft picks.
Late Wednesday evening, following the Leafs' embarrassing loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets,
a report had surfaced that the OHL's Oshawa Generals were in talks with the Brantford Bulldogs about a trade involving Zackary Sandhu and
Ben Danford.
Danford Deal Goes Through
While it took some time for the deal to come together, the Oshawa Generals have confirmed via social media that the trade has finally been accepted.
Danford had a wonderful training camp for the Maple Leafs, impressing head coach Craig Berube, who believes that the 19-year-old defenseman has a bright future ahead of him in the NHL.
Needless to say, Danford wasn't ready to take on that large a task just yet, and the Leafs felt as though he would be better served by playing his final year of junior hockey.
Leafs Believed to Have Been Involved in the Deal
For Danford, this will be a fresh start with a great opportunity to capture a Memorial Cup, which is his main goal in his junior career.
