Returning to practice on Monday, there was more bad news than good news on the injury front for the Maple Leafs regarding Scott Laughton, Nicolas Roy and Auston Matthews.

The Leafs have lost five straight games, and in the process, have been hit extremely hard by injuries. They were already without Chris Tanev, who was injured November 1st against the Philadelphia Flyers, but have since added five more players to the injured list.

Laughton Returns, Roy Absent

To begin practice on Monday, the Leafs got their only bit of good news. Scott Laughton took to the ice in a regular jersey, shedding the red non-contact jersey, which he sported at Friday's practice.
As Laughton appears set to return this week, the Leafs may have lost another center in Nicolas Roy, who was absent from practice. In his absence, and with the injury to Brandon Carlo, the Leafs recalled Jacob Quillan.

Matthews, Stolarz Not Skating

Last Tuesday, the Leafs lost to the Boston Bruins, and also lost goaltender Anthony Stolarz to an upper-body injury, and captain Auston Matthews to a lower-body injury. The Leafs noted that Stolarz was considered 'day-to-day', while Matthews was placed on Injured Reserve.
The fact that neither skated on Monday is a cause for concern, as Matthews was eligible to be activated from IR as early as tomorrow, and Stolarz's injury appears to be more serious than initially thought.
More pdates are expected to follow practice, but for Tuesday's game, the Leafs will hope to snap their five-game skid without a handful of notables in their lineup, and a list of centres that includes John Tavares, Max Domi, Jacob Quillan and Steven Lorentz.
