Veteran forward Max Domi has taken full responsibility for his ill-advised attempted pass in overtime that cost the Maple Leafs the game last night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were forced to play catch up again after going down 2-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets last night, but as has been the case for most of the season, they found a way to come back, only to fall short in overtime.
The game looked destined to head to a shootout before veteran forward Max Domi attempted an ill-advised pass through two Blue Jackets that resulted in a turnover going the other way.
It was just not a play that needed to be made at that point in the contest. Defenseman Jake McCabe was making a bee-line towards the net, and with a lot of open ice in front of him, Domi decided to try to thread the needle with Zach Werenski in the way.
Adam Fantilli then made no mistake as he raced around Domi, who was the last man back, and scored the overtime winner with 39 seconds left to cap off a 3-point night in front of family and friends in Toronto.
Domi, who hasn't had the best season so far, took full accountability of his actions and realizes that was not a play that should have been made.
You (try) a play like that, you have to make it. That's 100 per cent on me.
The 11-year veteran has just 3 goals and 6 points in 21 games for a team that desperately needs him to show up with all the injuries adding up.
Head coach Craig Berube has been on his case over the last 2 seasons about being more aggressive and looking to shoot the puck, which is a message that has seemingly not sunk in yet.
Nevertheless it is interesting that Berube is deciding to understate the fact that there are too many inconsistencies in his game, considering the fact that he has 0 goals and 3 assists over his last 11 games, and if you take out his 2-goal game against Calgary, he has just 1 goal and 3 assists in 20 games.
Domi will have ample opportunity to rectify his mistakes with the Leafs playing shorthanded. His next attempt will come tomorrow night against one of his former clubs, the Montreal Canadiens, against whom he has 9 points in 19 career games.
