Matthew Knies scored the biggest goal of his career after finishing off a net-front play that was started by John Tavares in overtime.

The Toronto Maple Leafs lived to see another day in the 2023 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs after defeating the Boston Bruins, 2-1, in overtime in Game 5. Tavares entered the zone and executed a power move to get the puck to the net and while it was stopped by Jeremy Swayman, Knies was able to pick up the loose rebound for the finish.

Jake McCabe scored the game's opening goal before Trent Frederic tied things up before the 1st intermission. The second and third periods went without a goal and it seemed like the Bruins picked up their skating legs before overtime but fortunately Knies was able to bury his opportunity just 2:26 into the extra frame.

Without Auston Matthews, the Maple Leafs needed a big effort from everyone wearing the blue Maple Leaf and with the series now shifting to Toronto for Game 6, there's a chance that their leading scorer will suit up as they try to even the first round series - all thanks to Knies.
