The fact the Leafs are still in the hunt for a top-6 forward even after acquiring Matias Maccelli could indicate that another top-9 forward is on the trading block.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' forward depth was always going to take a massive hit with the loss of Mitch Marner. While his departure was completely understandable, it was still going to leave them with a massive void in the top-6 that free agency wouldn't be able to solve.
GM Brad Treliving did manage to pull off an underrated move by acquiring Matias Maccelli from the Utah Mammoth, but outside of that, they've been relatively quiet for a team that was expected to be very busy.
However, one aspect of the Maccelli trade that might not get spoken too much about is that they could look to use him alongside Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies on the top line.
Then, when you factor in the fact that they're still looking for a top-6 forward, even after acquiring Maccelli, that could infer that Max Domi's spot in the lineup is up for grabs, as was presented by Leafs Nation News.
With $4.983 million in cap space, the Maple Leafs would love nothing more than to shed some salary and go big game hunting. However, moving off of Calle Jarnkrok and David Kampf has proven to be a tougher task than initially expected, which could cause further issues.
While you don't just want to move forwards at this stage, because Domi carries way more value than the aforementioned duo, they could look to use him as a valuable asset in any trade that could bring the Leafs closer to their goals.
The market is expected to heat up at some point this summer, but the issue is that the Maple Leafs don't have the greatest combination of draft picks and prospects to be able to facilitate the kind of move they want, and it may involve moving one of Easton Cowan or Ben Danford to bring back an impact piece.
Domi plays with a lot of emotion, energy, and heart, but if it helps the Leafs get their hands on a legitimate top-6 forward, they have to at least consider moving him with how their roster is currently constructed.
