Maple Leafs prospect Jacob Quillan has received a special message from Marlies head coach John Gruden ahead of Leafs training camp.
With NHL rookie camp underway, it's a crucial opportunity for young players to showcase their skills and prove their value to their organizations.
For Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Jacob Quillan, this year's camp carries extra significance. Before camp began, Toronto Marlies head coach John Gruden delivered a special message to the 23-year-old forward.
As per Lance Hornby on X:
"At Leaf rookie camp today, forward Jacob Quillan, who played his first NHL game last year, relays he got a motivational call from Marlie coach John Gruden earlier this summer, saying he didn't want to see him back with the Marlies this season."
The Time Is Now For Prospect Jacob Quillan To Make The Maple Leafs
So far, there are already encouraging signs for Quillan. At camp, he has been paired with top prospect Easton Cowan, a clear indication of the confidence the Leafs have in his ability.
This isn't the first time Quillan has earned praise, either. Since joining the organization, both teammates and coaches have consistently spoken highly of his work ethic and character.
Quillan is also coming off of a strong season with the Marlies, where he posted 37 points in 67 games while also earning a one-game call up to the Maple Leafs.
Heading into this camp, Quillan may have his best chance yet at cracking the NHL roster on opening night. Now, the rest is up to him. Will he seize the opportunity, or allow it to slip through his fingers? Time will tell.
