Following a gutsy win over the Carolina Hurricanes the Toronto Maple Leafs are suddenly dealing with a goaltending controversy with the playoffs looming.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are riding high after another impressive win, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 4-1. The victory was powered by a standout performance from goaltender Joseph Woll, who made 25 saves, earning a .962 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average (GAA).
Despite what seemed like a clear decision in favor of Stolarz last week, head coach Craig Berube hinted that the starter for Game 1 of the playoffs may still be undecided. Rather than framing it as a challenge, Berube sees the situation as a positive.
As per David Alter on X:
"I don't know if it's a challenge, I think it's a good thing. We've got two capable guys who do a good job."
The Maple Leafs are all but locked in to face the Ottawa Senators in the first round, setting the stage for what promises to be a heated Battle of Ontario in round one of the playoffs.
