Toronto Marlies forward Alex Steeves continues to dominate the AHL, proving he's ready for an NHL opportunity, whether it comes with the Maple Leafs or elsewhere.
Earlier this week, it was Jacob Quillan who earned himself an NHL look, yet, one player still waiting for another shot at the NHL is Alex Steeves, and he may be the most deserving.
Steeves has played four games for the Maple Leafs this season, recording no points, but he has been outstanding in the AHL.
Through 29 games, he has amassed 35 points and added to his AHL goal scoring lead, scoring his 22nd and 23rd goals, in tonight's game against the San Jose Barracuda.
As per Alex Papetti on X:
"Alex Steeves just scored his AHL leading 22nd goal of the season.
Earlier this season, Steeves acknowledged that if an NHL opportunity doesn't come soon, he may need to consider other organizations, as he believes he has more to offer than what the Leafs have allowed him.
Steeves signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Leafs in the offseason, but if his impressive AHL play continues without an NHL call-up, this may very well be his last contract with the Maple Leafs organization.
