Maple Leafs' Perspective on Struggling Forward Suddenly Shifting at the Right Time
Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube has publicly addressed the recent play of struggling forward Scott Laughton, revealing what he thinks of the sudden improvement.
With Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube pondering a major change to his top six ahead of the team's upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Ottawa Senators, he has reason to believe other parts of the lineup are looking very good.
Scott Laughton was determined to play better after his trade to the Maple Leafs from the Philadelphia Flyers, and managed a big play in the team's series finale against the Detroit Red Wings in his last game, scoring the overtime winner.
Berube has given his thoughts on Laughton's recent play, and said there's an obvious increase in confidence that has provided results on the ice.
"If you go back three games now, I think he is really coming around for us. In Buffalo, he was excellent, but before then, he was playing good hockey. He has some chemistry going with those guys.
He is starting to feel a lot more comfortable. I was happy for him to get that goal in OT. For anyone, if you score a goal, you feel good about yourself. But it is not the goal so much as how he is playing the game."

An increase in confidence and the excitement of a rivalry series can really bring out the best in players, and Laughton seems poised to benefit from both. The Maple Leafs will need the best out of everyone in the lineup to weather the coming storm.
