The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to add at forward as they confirmed on Wednesday that they have signed free agent center Vinni Lettieri.

Despite having made 4 free agent signings, including the pickup of former Canadiens forward Michael Pezzetta, it's been a relatively slow start out of the gates for Toronto Maple Leafs, as they continue to search for their elusive top-6 winger on the trade market.
In the meantime, general manager Brad Treliving is focusing on the depth of his roster as well as the Toronto Marlies, after having signed Benoit-Olivier Groulx, Travis Boyd, and Dakota Mermis yesterday. We can now add Vinni Lettieri to that list after he inked a one-year contract with the Leafs.
The undrafted forward out of Excelsior, Minnesota, started out his career with the New York Rangers organization ahead of the 2016-17 season. After spending 4 years with the Rangers, Lettieri then spent 2 years with the Anaheim Ducks, followed by pitstops in Boston and Minnesota.
Through it all, he's amassed 155 career NHL games across parts of 7 seasons with all 4 clubs and has 15 goals and 32 points to his credit.
In 2024-25, Lettieri scored 3 goals and 5 points in 26 games but saw a career-high 13:31 TOI as a member of the Boston Bruins.
He's been far more productive at the AHL-level with 141 goals and 287 points in 324 games, including a 50-point season with the Providence Bruins this past season in just 47 contests.
The 30-year-old pivot would be a welcome addition for the Marlies, considering his recent track record in the AHL, but could still look to contribute for the Maple Leafs as well.
Playing a premium position helps, but it all hinges on what Treliving does with the rest of his roster and how he addresses the remaining holes.
Even if Lettieri doesn't start the season in the NHL, expect to see him up with the parent club at some point as he carries a good amount of experience and is a solid depth forward to add to the bottom-6 in a pinch.
