The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced several changes within their front office hierarchy that includes two executives parting ways with the organization.
The Toronto Maple Leafs continued to make changes to their front office after officially parting ways with director of high performance Rich Rotenberg as well as director of hockey research Rob Pettapiece.
The Maple Leafs further announced that they have not filled those positions quite yet but will be doing their due diligence over the next little while in order to find the right pieces on the performance and research and development side of things.
Rotenberg originally started out in the OHL as head athletic therapist for
the Barrie Colts before becoming a conditioning coach for the Soo Greyhounds.
He then joined
the Toronto Marlies in 2015-16 as director of conditioning and held that position until 2023, when he then became director of sport performance for the Maple Leafs.
Pettapiece joined the analytics department for the Maple Leafs in 2014-15, which is where he remained up until today. He was named senior analyst in 2022-23 before being promoted to director of hockey research in 2023-24.
The Maple Leafs will continue to address their front office and NHL roster personnel as the summer continues. Changes are afoot and that could only mean good things for a team that had stayed relatively the same for nearly a decade.
