Maple Leafs Name Starting Goaltender and the Decision Comes as a Bit of a Surprise

The Maple Leafs announced their starting goalie for a rematch with the New York Islanders on Thursday after Joseph Woll played through an injury in Tuesday's game.
In the second period of their 3-1 victory over the Islanders on Tuesday, Woll got up gingerly after making a save, but was able to fight through it and get some treatment done between periods to help propel him to his 11th victory of the season.
At the time, fans were concerned it may be something more serious given his injury history, but Woll was quick to quiet those concerns after practice Wednesday, noting that he is fine.
Woll is expected to make his second start in a row on Thursday night as he did not take part in the Leafs' morning skate - which is part of his normal game day process when he plays.
Anothony Stolarz remains sidelined after undergoing knee surgery for at least another month, meaning the net is Woll's for the foreseeable future.
Although it is Woll's net until Stolarz returns, the Leafs are mindful of balancing his workload and will give starts to Matt Murray or Dennis Hildeby on back-to-backs.
Through 17 games this season, the former third-round pick is 11-6-0 with one shutout and has posted a respectable .913 save percentage to go along with a 2.48 GAA.
