Maple Leafs Fans Livid With MLSE Over Ridiculous Price Hike Beginning in the 2025-26 Season

Maple Leafs fans are voicing their displeasure over MLSE's quiet announcement regarding a very significant, expensive change for the Leafs' 2025-26 season.
Unfortunately for the players in blue and white, having a loud, raucous crowd game-in and game-out may have just gotten more difficult and fans aren't happy about it.
In a piece for The Athletic on Monday, Leafs reporter James Mirtle revealed that a number of season ticket holders reached out to him outraged about a significant price increase in their tickets for next season.
"One section with the largest increases was near the top of the building, in the purple section, where two season tickets went from $8,522 this season to $10,396 for next year," wrote Mirtle.
Mirtle noted that a number of fans that contacted The Athletic were on the fence about renewing their tickets due to the significant cost increase which sees Stanley Cup Final games priced at almost $2000 per ticket in the lower-bowl.
The crowd at Scotiabank arena has been called out multiple times by the media in recent years due to being so quiet, but unfortunately, there is nothing the true, die-hard fans can do about it as they continue to be priced out of attending games.
The Leafs want an atmosphere that's difficult to play in for visiting teams, and die-hard fans want to attend games, but when the cheapest ticket for Wednesday's game
against the Colorado Avalanche is $142 and is standing room only, it's hard for the average fan to justify that cost. Add in the cost of a couple of alcoholic beverages, and some food and for two people to attend a Leafs game, it amounts to more than $500.
The Leafs are the most valued franchise the NHL, and price increases should be expected, but to have them jump so significantly when the team does nothing in the playoffs is... a choice.
The only thing more outrageous than the near 20-percent increase in some areas for next season is MLSE stating that some tickets are 'historically underpriced' related to market demand.
Despite the outrage from Leafs fans, hell will freeze over before MLSE looks at a price freeze or decreasing prices given that the waitlist for season tickets is more than 12,000 patrons long, which is unfortunate for the average fan. The corporate greed continues to turn Scotiabank Arena into a glorified movie theatre and it appears it will only get worse.
