With a hole on the left wing and Nicholas Robertson still holding out in the hopes of a trade, had Zadina joined the Leafs, it could have been mutually beneficial. Zadina would have had the opportunity to continue his NHL career on a good team and the Leafs would have picked up a player with speed, potential, skill and secondary scoring in their top-nine. However, before the Leafs could close the deal, HC Davos swooped in and got their man.
The 2018 first-round pick has struggled to put all of his skills together since entering the league, but tied his career high with 13 goals last season on a dismal San Jose Sharks team. At just 24, his NHL career is not over, but he would have to have a superb showing with Davos if he wants to return quickly.
