The Toronto Maple Leafs accomplished something on Monday night against the Penguins that they have not been able to do in almost 15 years.

The Maple Leafs showed a gutsy effort on Monday, kicking off their 4-game homestand with a huge 4-3 comeback win, moving them to 7-5-1 on the season after a middling start.

Nylander, Berube Not Satisfied With Win

Leafs coach Craig Berube and star winger William Nylander were among those who were vocal about the team's performance through the first 40 minutes, and despite pulling off the win, they were not cutting the team any slack for coming all the way back from a 3-goal deficit.
The score didn't tell the whole story in this one, as the Leafs were taunted by fans after surrendering a 3-0 lead to the Pens. Much like they did while the Toronto Blue Jays were on their World Series run, the fans in Scotiabank Arena chanted for the Jays, which sent a message to the team that they weren't happy.

Leafs Pull Off Something Truly Rare and Impressive

Last night's victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins wasn't just like any other win for the Maple Leafs, however. It was an event that the organization has not seen since December of 2010.
It was also just the 4th time in franchise history that the Leafs came back to erase a 3-goal deficit and win in the 3rd period.
The concerns, though, are very real for the organization. The narrative attached to this team for almost the entire Auston Matthews era has been that they never start on time. That was the case again on Monday.
I know we should be thankful that they were able to come all the way back, rallying to score 4 unanswered goals and shut the door in the 3rd period, but there are some alarming signs for this group this season that the fans, thus far, have been unable to ignore -- even after a big win on home ice.
