Legendary Leafs Play-by-Play Announcer Shocked and Saddened by Heartbreaking News

Joe Bowen, the legendary play-by-play announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs is paying tribute to a friend, former NHLer and broadcast partner who passed away suddenly this week.
The hockey world is in mourning after it was announced that former NHL goaltender and longtime NHL broadcaster Greg Millen passed away at the age of 67.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Greg Millen is perhaps best known outside of his NHL career as being the voice of the Calgary Flames for several years.
However, Millen's broadcasting career took him to several locations around the NHL, including a stint with legendary Toronto Maple Leafs play-by-play announcer Joe Bowen, who paid tribute to his colleague and longtime friend in social media posts, including one on Facebook.
"This one is tough. We lost Millsie today suddenly. Just saw him a couple of weeks ago in the press box at a Maple Leafs game, and he said he was recovering from some illness that had sidelined him a bit. Travelled a lot of miles with him doing Maple Leaf games and enjoyed every minute of our conversations and our banter on the air.

Millen was initially drafted into the NHL by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1977. He also went on to play for the Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings over his 14 seasons in the league.
The Toronto Maple Leafs also paid tribute to Millen, saying he brought insight, passion, and warmth to every broadcast.
