William Nylander scored his 40th goal of the season for the Maple Leafs on Tuesday, and then dropped an amazing comment about the milestone marker.

The Toronto Maple Leafs delivered an impressive 7-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, showcasing their offensive firepower and solid teamwork.
One standout performer in the win was superstar William Nylander, who, alongside John Tavares, recorded 2 goals and 2 assists, for four poitns, playing a key role in the team's dominant performance.
Nylander scored his 40th goal of the season, marking his third consecutive 40-goal campaign. He also tallied his 77th point in just 71 games this season.
When asked about reaching the 40-goal milestone, Nylander dropped this absolute gem of a comment, as per Terry Koshan on X:
"Just trying to do what I'm paid to do. That's it."
Max Domi was among those who praised the Swede's performance after watching him hit the 40-goal mark:
"He's awesome. 😄 I love watching Will play He's one of one."
Nylander is in the first year of his 8-year, $92 million contract, earning $11.5 million per season. His play this year has undoubtedly proven his worth, especially as the salary cap is expected to rise. Since signing the contract, Nylander has been one of the most consistent and elite players on the team.
Nylander has also maintained a calm demeanor this season, both on and off the ice. The Swede has provided some interesting sound bites, often responding to questions in a nonchalant manner, which sometimes gets him into trouble.
Looking ahead, Nylander and the Maple Leafs will aim to maintain their strong form as they continue their push toward the postseason under head coach Craig Berube, making his first Stanley Cup playoff appearance with the Leafs.
