Leafs Superstar Mitch Marner Makes Surprising Comment Ahead of the Playoffs

On the cusp of reaching 100 points for the first time in his NHL career, Maple Leafs superstar Mitch Marner dropped a surprising comment following the Leafs' win over Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.
Much of the talk surrounding Mitch Marner this season in Toronto has been about whether or not he'll put pen to paper on a lucrative new contract with the Maple Leafs to avoid free agency on July 1st.
However, there's another Marner storyline worth following that has received far less media attention; his pursuit of his first 100-point season.
Mitch Marner Makes It Very Clear What His Priorities Are Right Now
Marner currently sits at 97 points after a 3-point performance against the Lightning on Wednesday, and following the overtime win, the Toronto native was asked how he felt about potentially reaching that impressive milestone for the first time. His response showed very clearly what his priorities are right now.
"I don't know. I feel like you guys asked me this last year or something -- I really don't care, in a way. I mean, we just want to win games, and try to get first in our division. If it happens, it happens, that's great. But I'm just trying to go out there and win hockey games, and do what we do out there."
The line of Matthew Knies, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner combined for 9 points in the win over Tampa, with Knies being the star of the show.
Marner, like fellow pending UFA John Tavares, has publicly commented on a number of occasions that he wishes to remain a Leaf beyond this season.
