Following a thrilling win over the Winnipeg Jets that included a hat-trick from Auston Matthews, the Leafs' social media team took aim at the Jets and Mark Scheifele.

Thursday night was Auston Matthews' best game of the season. Not only did the 28-year-old score three times, including the game-winner, but he looked like he had more jump in his step and was all over the ice on both sides of the puck.

Jets Continue Living in the Past

Although they came away with a massive two points, things didn't start well for the Leafs. They found themselves down 2-0 at the end of one and then 4-1 early in the second thanks to a goal from Mark Scheifele that chased Joseph Woll.
After Scheifele's goal, the Jets' social media team was quick to post the video and caption it 'Nothing better than scoring on Toronto'.
Almost instantly, everyone knew they were referencing a clip from Scheifele's post-game speech from a game against the Leafs in December of 2021 where he was caught on camera saying, "Is there anything better than beating the Leafs?".
For a Jets team that has now lost 8 in a row and finds themselves last in the NHL, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that they have to look into the past for some sort of joy.
Unfortunately for the Jets, since Scheifele's infamous speech, the Jets have now lost 7 of their last 8 against the Leafs.

Leafs' Media Team Responds to Jets

It didn't take long for the Leafs' social media team to respond to the Jets after the team awarded Matthews with the 'Player of the Game' belt (to no one's surprise).
Posted to 'X', the Leafs' media team shared a photo of Matthews, Max Domi, Scott Laughton and John Tavares captioning it, "Is there anything better than", letting fans finish the sentence.
Thursday's win was the Leafs' fourth in their last five, propelling them to within two points of a wild card spot. After a very rocky start to the season, the Leafs have found their rhythm and will look to win their third in a row on Saturday when they take on the New York Islanders.
