On Monday evening, the Maple Leafs shared some heartbreaking information, confirming that former Leafs PA announcer Paul Morris has passed away at the age of 86.
Morris served as the PA announcer for the Maple Leafs for 38 years, from 1961 to 1999.
The Maple Leafs shared the news in a post on social media late Monday evening:
"We are saddened to share that longtime Maple Leafs PA Announcer Paul Morris has passed away at 86.
The voice of Maple Leaf Gardens for decades, Paul never missed a game from 1961 to 1999. He called the final game at the Gardens and was the first voice at Scotiabank Arena. More than an announcer, Paul was part of Leafs history. His voice and legacy will forever echo in Leafs Nation."
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Morris family during this difficult time.
The Maple Leafs will return to action after the 4 Nations Face-Off concludes. Their next game will be on Saturday, February 22, against the Carolina Hurricanes at home, where they will almost certainly honour Morris in some way.
