The 1st Round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators has been much more fun to watch as a Leafs fan, I'm sure, than it has been to watch as a Senators fan.
The Leafs currently hold a 2-0 series lead coming into Thursday's Game 3, thanks in large to a thrilling OT winner from Max Domi on Tuesday and the tremendous play of goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
Senators forward Ridly Greig has essentially been identified as public enemy number one in Toronto in this series, largely because of the way he has antagonized the Leafs all series long, but also stemming back to when he fired a slapshot into an empty net last season, prompting a fiery response from Morgan Rielly, which resulted in a 5-game suspension.
Greig's interactions with Stolarz in Games 1 and 2 have put a bit of a target on his back, and after Stolarz handled his business himself in Game 2, there's some concern that perhaps Greig would seek some retribution -- something Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson has advised against.
"I wouldn't go after Stollie if I was him," Leafs teammate Oliver Ekman-Larsson, flashing a grin.
Greig has emerged as a true agitator, and there's no question that he's already under the Leafs' skin. Still, if he does pursue some sort of retribution on Stolarz, by the sounds of things, the Leafs will ensure that he pays for it.
