After an embarrassing third period to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night, one Leafs fan unloaded on the team during a post-game edition of 'TLN After Dark'.
An own goal from Troy Stecher mid-way through the second period left the Leafs rattled and shifted the momentum in the Oilers' favour on Saturday with the visiting team scoring 4 more times to beat the Leafs 6-3 in their own barn.
Morgan Rielly and Craig Berube lay into team following loss
Head coach Craig Berube has called out William Nylander multiple times in recent weeks, but after Saturday's game, he tore a strip off the entire leadership group, including Auston Matthews.
"I talked to the team after the game, our leaders got to take control of it a lot more than they are right now."
Rielly echoed his coach's comments, saying the team is not going to win playing the way they played in the third period.
Fan shreds team on 'TLN After Dark
As Zack Phillips normally does, he hosted 'TLN After Dark' following the loss where he played a voicemail from a fan.
"Our stars are moping around like glum-struck lumps," said the fan in a lengthy, frustrated call.
Former Leafs enforcer Jay Rosehill wasn't as child-friendly in his rant on the same podcast, calling the Leafs' third period 'grotesque'.
"They play scared to lose. They f***ing play scared to lose, and you will never win if you are playing scared to lose... The third period was just f***ing grotesque."
With fans and pundits questioning whether this version of the Leafs is even a playoff team at this point, it certainly does feel like a lot of doom and gloom is hovering above this team like a dark cloud.
Thankfully, there's a lot of season left ahead and the Leafs will have an opportunity to get back into the win column on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
