Maple Leafs defenceman Simon Benoit was a participant in yesterday's Leafs charity golf event, where he happened to embarrass himself on camera.
With training camp set to open tomorrow, the Toronto Maple Leafs took part in their annual charity golf tournament on Monday -- a lighthearted event that brings the team together before the grind of the season begins.
For others, it was a chance to showcase their personalities. That was the case for defenseman Simon Benoit, who tried to pull off a classic "Happy Gilmore" style golf swing. Unfortunately for Benoit, his two attempts ended in a complete fail in hilarious fashion.
As per the Toronto Maple Leafs on X:
"What's a day on the course without a little Happy Gilmore?"
Simon Benoit Has Made a Name for Himself in Toronto
As training camp ramps up, Benoit will need to continue building on that strong play to maintain his spot in the everyday lineup. With a number of hungry players pushing for opportunities, the competition for roster spots will be fierce.
