Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has made what many will agree is a very controversial decision ahead of Game 6 in Ottawa on Thursday.
Last night's 4-0 loss to the Senators at Scotiabank Arena has set Maple Leafs fans off, and may have planted some seeds of doubt that the Sens can use to their advantage in Game 6 back in Ottawa.
The Leafs were flat for much of Tuesday's loss, despite outshooting the Senators in the contest. The passes were sloppy, there wasn't much traffic in front of Linus Ullmark, and, unfortunately, there weren't a lot of 2nd efforts on the Leafs' part.
After giving his players the day off to re-group, rest and re-charge, Berube met with the media and revealed that he may not make many alterations, if any, to his roster for Game 6 on Thursday.
"I don't want to change too much. I think there's been a lot of good."
William Nylander has 6 points through 5 games in this series, but hasn't exactly been as dominant as the Leafs and the fan base have come to expect after his 3rd consecutive 40+ goal season. He is expected to remain next to John Tavares on the team's second line. However, their left flank is up for debate.
Last night, Berube removed Domi from the 3C slot and inserted him next to Tavares and Nylander in an attempt to generate some offense late in the game, so there is certainly a possibility that we could see Pontus Holmberg play 3C and Domi play 2nd line LW, but we'll have to wait until Thursday to confirm.
What will be most interesting to see is what the Leafs plan to do in goal. After winning Games 1-3, Anthony Stolarz has dropped Games 4 and 5. Could we see Joseph Woll receive his first start of this postseason on Thursday? That's the million dollar question.
