Anthony Stolarz has revealed where things stand with Leafs teammate William Nylander after recently calling out the Swedish star after the team's loss to the Kraken.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a so-so start to the season, sitting at 3-2-1 after a disappointing 4-3 overtime loss to the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night.
One player who didn't shy away from calling out the team's performance was goaltender Anthony Stolarz, who admitted he and his teammates have to be better during his post-game comments.
Following the loss, Stolarz also pulled star forward William Nylander aside for a one-on-one conversation to clear the air after publicly calling him out.
As reported by Anna Dua on X:
"I pulled Willy aside, we had a conversation. He's someone I admire and someone I respect deeply he pushes me, I push him. We're a family in here and we're looking to push each other and get to our ultimate goal at the end of the day."

Toronto's Athletes Continue to Show Support for One Another

The sentiment Stolarz expressed is a strong example of leadership and accountability, but also reflects the broader culture of support within Toronto's sports scene.
In fact, that sense of unity extends beyond hockey. Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was spotted wearing an Auston Matthews jersey on his way into the Rogers Centre for the ALCS finals -- further cementing the bond among Toronto's professional athletes.

Stolarz's Leadership Could Be Exactly What the Leafs Need

By speaking up and setting expectations -- not just for others, but for himself. Stolarz may be giving the Maple Leafs exactly what they need moving forward: veteran accountability with championship experience.
After all, Stolarz played a key role in the Florida Panthers' Stanley Cup-winning run during the 2023-24 season. His voice and standard could prove invaluable down the stretch for a Leafs team still searching for consistency.

What's Next for the Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs will have their next opportunity to respond and show Stolarz and the fan base what they're capable of -- when they hit the road to face the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.
