Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz had a hilarious explanation for his misplay on David Perron's tying goal late in the third period of Game 6.
While Stolarz made some timely saves, one miscue late in the third period saw him go for a poke check, which led to Senators forward David Perron banking a shot off of his head from behind the net to tie the game.
It was all smiles for Stolarz and the Leafs post-game, and when asked about the misplay, he had quite the explanation as to why Perron was able to sneak that one by him.
"Got a little horny on the poke check, so you live and you learn. And that's the life of a goaltender. You just flush it out of your mind because the next shot's coming, and it's a more important one than the last one that just went in."
Thankfully, Stolarz's gaffe didn't end up sending the series back to Toronto for Game 7, although it did make Leafs Nation hold their collective breath until Max Pacioretty scored to give the Leafs the lead again.
By closing out the series on Thursday night, the Leafs now have a few days to rest and heal some bumps and bruises before entering the second round against a heavy, bruising Panthers team that Stolarz is very familiar with.
