Hall-of-Fame defenseman Chris Pronger has revealed why a change of scenery won't lead to more playoff success for former Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner.

Following a messy divorce from the Maple Leafs, Mitch Marner was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights on July 1st.
His tenure with the Leafs came to an end after another disappointing playoff performance that saw the 28-year-old score just twice in 13 post-season games.
The lack of production from Marner in the post-season has drawn the ire of Leafs Nation for years, and Hall-of-Famer Chris Pronger believes nothing will change, despite Marner getting a fresh start in Vegas.

Chris Pronger Has Revealed Why Mitch Marner Won't Succeed in Post-Season, Even After Trade to Vegas

On an appearance on Daily Faceoff's 'The Rundown', Pronger revealed that Marner is simply just not a playoff type of player.
"I don't want to discount his ability to get 100 points because it's not easy. His inability to produce in the playoffs is a concern, because at the end of the day, that is what he is being signed for.

Whether he wasn't used properly, surrounded by the right players. He's a smaller player. He's not going to get on the inside in the playoffs and that's where all the goals are scored.

You cannot be a perimeter player in the playoffs and expect to be productive. It just doesn't work that way. You have to be willing to take some punishment.

You have to be willing to get to the inside and fight and scratch and claw to get to loose pucks in and around the net to score goals."
Pronger, who was known for handing out punishment in front of the net over the course of his career, didn't take anything away from Marner's skillset or his ability to produce in the regular season, but explained that unless he changes how he approaches the playoffs, he won't see any greater success with Vegas than he did with the Leafs.
Given the fact that the Western Conference is often viewed as more physical and playoff-style hockey throughout the regular season compared to the East, Marner's post-season struggles may be amplified in Vegas.
