Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos proposed a wild conspiracy theory about concussion spotters on Monday following the exit of Leafs forward John Tavares in Game 4.

On Saturday, we saw John Tavares take a high hit in overtime from Senators defenseman Artem Zub, which many agree should have warranted a penalty for interference at the very least.
The hit shook up Tavares as he collected himself on the ice for a moment before heading to the Leafs' bench. When he arrived there, he was ultimately sent to the dressing room by concussion spotters before returning after passing baseline tests.
While Tavares confirmed he is okay, the whole scenario got Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos' attention to the point that he actually questioned the legitimacy of concussion spotters on 'The Real Kyper and Bourne Show' on Monday afternoon.
"It really bothers me when I continue to watch guys get pulled off for protocol and then I watch hits like that in other instances where the guy does not come off. I'm going 'alright, you're in a visiting building.

I don't know who the doctors are is it easier to pull a visiting player off on protocol?'. Would Brady Tkachuk have been pulled off if he took the same hit? Would he have missed an integral part of a game that could have knocked you out of the first round? I don't know. All I know is that, sometimes, they (spotters) disappear and sometimes they don't."
Always controversial, Kypreos does bring up a very valid point. The number of hits or collisions on the end boards we see where players are shaken up is much higher than the number of times we see those players get pulled off the bench to go into concussion protocol.
Surely, the league will face questions about the spotters and when they can and cannot pull players from games in the off-season, but for now, the Leafs will have to reset ahead of a crucial Game 5 on Tuesday night.
