Former Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten is suddenly on fire for his new organization, popping off for the Providence Bruins in a Sunday afternoon game.
According to Kyle Cushman on X, Minten scored a hat trick in today's game for Providence.
To further impress, Minten's hat trick was a natural hat trick, as he scored all three goals in the second period. He also added an assist, totaling four points in the Bruins' victory.
While Minten isn't typically known for his point production, as he is more of a two-way forward, he's shown considerable offensive upside. Before the trade, Minten had 13 points in 26 games with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL and 4 points in 15 games with the Maple Leafs in the NHL.
Trading prospects always comes with the risk that these players may develop into stars. However, the Maple Leafs have embraced that risk as they prepare for a deep playoff run with a win-now mentality.
